First People’s Principle

As a future teacher I think this is super important to know and incorporate the First People’s Principal in anything that you’re doing in the classroom. I’m very grateful to be able to learn about these principles because to be honest I was not well educated about the Indigenous principles before I got into the teaching program. I’m really excited to teach my students the importance of the Indigenous community and how these principles mean so much to them and their families. The First people’s principles really recognize that Indigenous people and show us that they have such diverse interests and aspirations, and that they really value their traditions.

Curriculum

I think is such a great guide for us teachers, it provides us with something to work with when creating lesson and unit plans. When creating my lesson or unit plans I always look at what I need my students to have learnt, at the end of the day we are here to teach our students about important concepts that they will need later down the road. This also insures teachers that the student is on the right track and is able to move up with no hesitation. This provides teachers with an organized focus on their lesson, I feel like I would be all over the place if i didn’t have the curriculum competency, big ideas and content I would not know where to start.

Also, it let’s you know what you should be doing as a teacher and what you shouldn’t be doing. Provides us guidelines on how to be a quality teacher and providing the up most professionalize. This applies to being professional with your fellow teachers and your students. I think having the same shared vision amongst teachers provides a willing to work together to achieve these goals.
